From time to time that show really shines and we get to see why it originally became such a big hit. Tonight's episode "Improbable" was just such an occasion. Sadly, Channel 10 have decided to bury X-Files at 1am which means most people will have missed one of the best episodes in ages. I chortled and chuckled all the way through this wonderful story which had Burt Reynolds playing either the devil or god with charm and humor. It really made me wish I could speak another language because all the songs and many of what seemed clues were not spoken in English. The entire story played out like a game or joke upon the viewer. I just love it when they do that. :D

You saw that to, eh?
I was surprised to catch it while channel-flicking on Friday night (early Saturday morning?).
It wasn't no 'Jose Chungs "From Outer Space'", but it was one of the beter episodes for a while.

Channel 10 is being awful with its screening times. The argument goes like this "The die-hard fans will watch/tape it no matter the time or day". they gave it shabby treatment at hte start of the season, and -- oh, gosh! -- it rated poorly. That was teh justification they needed to screw the series that captured the "young" market for them in the early 90s and was the focus of their shift in programming. I imagine the same will happen to The Simpsons the moment they realise they have their hands on hte final season...

:)
I noticed it stashed away in the late night timeslot when I checked http://www.sofcom.com.au for TV schedules. I avoid turning on the TV unless there is something I *really* wanna watch -- I just get sucked in waaayy too easily. :)

I didn't remember "Jose Chung's from Outer Space" so I just now watched it again. I laughed and laughed. Wonderful!

My all-time favorites would have to be "War of the Coprophages" (the one about the cockroaches) and "Bad Blood" (the one about the village of vampires) -- or at least those two are the ones that stick most firmly in my mind. Odd how the humorous ones are my favorites. I guess I have the greatest admiration for writers of good comedy -- it is so bloody hard to write well. Horror, in particular benefits nicely from it as a tension releaser.

Gee they did a lot of brilliant work on that series.
