The Spitzer Space Telescope is showing amazing new things. See the nearby Amdromeda galaxy (M31) in infrared light. Just look at those dust lanes that could hardly be guessed at in the visible light images.

to learn more and download much bigger, more detailed images as well as composite images and visible light ones. Just wait till you see the 3000x1650 pixel picture!

The image is a lot more than just a simple picture. It is a composite of approximately 11,000 separate infrared snapshots taken over 18 hours to form an incredibly detailed giant mosaic image.
