Yay! I have my story idea!

And not too soon either. Just a couple of days till the "fun" begins.

Good grief! I'm starting to get nervous. How the hell will I keep up the pace of around 2,000 words a day for the best part of a month??

Well at least I'm starting with a terrific idea that can easily grow to a novel I think.

I actually came up with this one a few years ago and dutifully jotted it down. I'm glad I haven't written it into a story earlier because I've thought of a few nice additions to it that should make for an interesting story... I hope. [gulp]

Anybody else who reads my journal doing NaNoWriMo this year?

;-) Well, unofficially, and extending a novella into novel length, but I'll be tracking wordcount etc. Tho I'm sorely tempted to go back to Lavender Secrets thanks the beta feedback you and a couple of others gave me so quickly. temptations temptations!

What genre etc is your nano story. Care to share a 2-3 sentence pitch on it? :D

Heheheh
Well that was said decisively. :)
Are you going to be posting your stuff online or keeping it secret till the end of November? I'm currently debating question this with myself.

Neat! I'm glad you got your feedback from people quickly.

I spent some hours last night working out the plot. Still more to be done. I am dead scared I'll reach 10,000 words and have completed the story. [gulp]

It is a lesbian romance set in the near future.

The main characters are (I am pretty sure these will be their names):
Rachel - a researcher and representative for an insurance company
Sally - Rachel's android
Zoe - one of my past main characters is a supporting character in this story

The primary plot is about the threat to insurance companies of people who "emigrate" to virtual reality and want to claim their life insurance, because moving to VR entails death of your biological self. The insurance companies are scared that large numbers of people moving to VR will bankrupt the insurance industry.

There are other sub-plots that I am considering, to do with the emancipation of AIs (artificial intelligences) and perhaps luddites who feel threatened by the rapid rate of change.

It will be an unconventional story in that I dislike standard rules of what constitutes a story. So I will have no violence, no goodies and baddies, no chases, no personal journey, and the only conflict is likely to be people at cross-purposes or misunderstanding each other, though I may include a side-story at one point about some computer vandals who cause problems.

Sounds boring, but I hope not.

Sounds like a cool idea. I'm all for no car chases in stories myself :-)

For me it's not so much the ideas thing is that I'd have a physical problem managing it, thanks to my bloody day job where I'm regularly required to knock off between 10,000 and usually about 13,000 transcribed words. With the recent overtime, I don't write at all some days. Pity it's not January when the courts are in recess but November is no good because they're all trying to get their work done before Christmas.

It is obscene that you must work at stuff that obstructs your creative writing. You are a damn fine writer.

Oh, for the future when we can all pursue our abilities! Not far off I hope.

I think that maybe I will post online. I've found I'm more disciplined with that approach.

Yay! Another local NaNomite (WriMoer? NaNomer?)
...well Melbourne is closer than most of my other NaNoWriMo friends, who are over in USA.

Actually, I think it's an intriguing idea. Hope you have some fun with it!
