After the War

Background Briefing broadcasts an extraordinary program again. It is an analysis of what might happen in Iraq after a war.

The transcript will be on the http://www.abc.net.au/rn/talks/bbing/ site on Thursday and the audio file should be up there by then too. For those here in Australia the program is repeated on Radio National 621kHz AM radio at 7:10pm on Tuesday. Those outside Australia can either wait till Thursday or listen online to the rebroadcast at http://www.abc.net.au/rn/ (click on the "Listen live now" link).

I like to trick the streaming audio into saving as a file on my computer, then convert the terrible RealAudio format into the more standard and more compact mp3 format.

They always keep 4 weeks of past program's audio online. Last week's episode was a real eyeopener too. They also keep an archive of years of back-episodes of transcripts at http://www.abc.net.au/rn/talks/bbing/index/bbchronoidx.htm too.

Tell Iraq to destroy even the weapons that are questionable, while telling them that you are gonna declare war anyway. Yeah that will convince them. They're sure to say "OK these are the weapons we would use to defend ourselves against your attack... even though we showed them in good faith, thinking they were within the rules, sure we will destroy them. Is tomorrow good for you?"
