scarcity vs plenty

I wrote this about how artists, writers, and musicians might survive in the information age when works are so easily copied and shared. How can we make a living? This is incredibly important, and I am surprised it doesn't get properly discussed more often. Usually a few glib phrases are thrown in to inspire fear and nothing is ever solved. But file sharing won't go away by passing a few laws or refusing to look at it..

Frances Newton is scheduled to be executed in Texas on the 14th of September. Although it is the 14th today in Australia it is still the 13th in USA. Send emails to the people that might stop a miscarriage of justice.

There is reason to believe that Frances Newton is innocent. She certainly is not guilty beyond reasonable doubt. To kill her out of expediency perverts the USA judicial system and makes it a standing joke around the world.

This makes USA appear a barbaric nation more like a repressive third world nation than a shining light of justice and opportunity. What message do they want to send to the world? That USA doesn't care about truth or the marginalised? Such a message will only validate the idiots who would use suicide bombs against all of us.
