Why is it that wherever in the world there are dogs and humans they play the same game? I'll throw this and you'll run and get it then bring it back to me. Why is it that both parties love such a superficially inane activity so much?

We and dogs seem to be wired up to love each other's company.

I've long felt that dogs have a lot to teach us. They are unquestioningly devoted companions and unhesitatingly put themselves in harm's way to protect us. We humans, on the other hand, are infamous for our fickleness and our inability to maintain long-term relationships. I have often expressed the hope that dogs could one day teach us what they do so effortlessly. Little did I realise that they already have.

My ex- of a couple of decades ago gave me her dog, Mali, recently because she was unable to look after her the way she deserved. Since then Mali and I go almost everywhere together. Last night I forgot to eat, but I didn't forget to feed Mali. We support each other without thinking anything of it -- it is as natural as breathing. It will be that way till either one of us takes their last breath.

Interesting.
