My sister was telling me tonight that apparently our creepy damn prime minister is making a big publicity deal of promising rebates for solar panels. It sounds too good to be true -- John Howard? helping the cause of alternative energy? Could it be he has seen the light?

Well, no.

It seems, after you strip away all the bullshit, that to be eligible a solar system has to be connected to the grid and not use battery storage. Most of the energy required is at night so a solar power system without batteries becomes ineffective at the time it's most needed. In other words the solar system has to be almost totally useless in order to attract a rebate. Howard is actually discouraging solar technology while making it look like he's encouraging it. What a swindler!

Seems the food industry has been adding fructose to a lot of food and it has some unfortunate side effects. One, that I'll bet the industry knew about, is that it makes people hungrier. Other effects that, to give them the benefit of the doubt, they might not have known about, is that it stuffs up your insulin levels, badly affects your liver and causes you to become constantly tired and feel unwell.
