Years ago I got server space on machines in the USA for my site http://miriam-english.org because at the time Australian politicians were sucking up to big business interests who wanted to censor the internet here. Interestingly, the censorship rules have proven difficult and expensive to operate and the massive resistance to their implementation has meant they never really came into force, even though I believe they're still on the books, just waiting for a sufficiently repressive government. (We really need some kind of default clean-up rule to get rid of stupid laws once they've been shown to unenforceable or against the public good.)
A while ago the big corporations tried to push through a law to do the same thing in the USA. Thankfully it failed. Now it seems they're trying yet again. And you know that if they fail they'll keep trying til some excessively stupid or lazy government lets it through. When will these corporate nitwits realise what a bad idea fascism is? Maybe it's time to look into moving my site to some place where free speech isn't constantly threatened by bloated corporations.
Sign the petition being presented to congress in USA to see if politicians actually read anything other than what's attached to the cheques from their big business "sponsors".
