Nestle -- continuing evil
Jun. 3rd, 2013 07:07 amWe all know about the long campaign against Nestle's sinister marketing of milk substitute to the world's poorest people by giving away free samples so the mother's milk would dry up and she'd have to buy their inferior product, and how this resulted in deaths of many thousands of children stripped of the protection of antibodies in mothers' milk. Not many know that after they were forced to stop doing this in Africa, they continued to do it in Bangladesh. I would not be surprised if there are still places where they continue this nastiness.
Recently they tried to patent fennel to do what it has been used for in home medicine since antiquity. Sneaky bastards!
Now they have somehow (I don't think it's a mystery how) managed to gain a permit to drain a watershed during drought conditions -- when all the locals have to be careful in their water use, and in fact have legally enforced water restrictions.

Nestle must be stopped.

Actually, I think Nestle long ago forfeited the right to exist as a corporation. They should be outlawed. They behave like outlaws; they should be legally recognised as such.
