Companions - first chapter

Okay, the first chapter of Companions, my new story, is up on my site at:

It is quite a lot shorter than I'd expected, which is a bit of a worry. At this rate the whole novel will come in at way less than my projected length. But that's okay really... I can finish NaNoWriMo writing some of the gazillion other short story ideas I have.
