I have been, and occasionally can be, but, not usually.

I expect that sometime in the future we might end up with something like Star Trek's stardate which would resolve all synchrony problems,

We might, but I doubt it. And, if we do, it will because the MegaCorps want to push their 24/7 always-on wage slave agenda.
Local times are far more useful.
The rhyme "between 11 and 3 stay under a tree" is, for example, very useful to me.
Even if it's now more between 10 and 4 stay indoors so your skin doesn't bubble".

Once thing is certain: time is a mess.

I'm okay with it. It makes sense to me. When I was a kid, I loved the idea of metric time, with base 10 or whatever it's called.
But I love the fact its bumpy and uneven.
