I use outlook express. It is actually perfectly safe if it is set up correctly. Unfortunately it does not come set up correctly and most people don't know how. Right from the begining, when I started using it years ago, I set it to restricted security. It isn't allowed to do anything but show text or straight HTML. It can't run any scripts of any kind.
When I had the most popular TG site on the internet I was bombarded with virus attacks, like 2 or 3 a day at least, and not one ever got through.
