In related info Bev Harris has written a book on how the Diebold electronic voting machines can be so easily use to fake elections. You can buy the book (she needs money to defray legal costs) or you can download it free, under Creative Commons license from:

Unfortunately the book is in pdf format, but it shouldn't be too hard to convert to a more sensible format.
I really, really hope we don't end up with shonky electronic voting machines here... though I was a scrutineer (watched counting to ensure it was above board) at the last federal elections here in Australia and I noticed that although we could observe the vote counting on the floor there was no way to check that the right numbers ended up back at the central counters for the state. Maybe we don't need electronic fraud to fiddle elections. The con men may be perfectly happy with the system we already have.
