EFF humor

I hooted with laughter while reading the latest Electronic Frontier Foundation newsletter (a copy of which is online at http://www.eff.org/effector/19/11a.php ). The emailed version doesn't have the big red letters at the top so I was a little confused at first.

My favorite bit was this:
RIAA Says Future DRM Might "Threaten Critical Infrastructure and Potentially Endanger Lives" RIAA concedes that DRM might have far-reaching consequences, but is reticent to allow circumvention to solve that.

The EULA at the end is hilarious too, though rather pointed. At times it reads very much like some of the more ridiculous EULAs that we all "agree" to when we install software.

(For those who don't know, the EFF is a non-profit organisation that works hard to protect our electronic rights -- increasingly important, now there's so much pressure to take them away from us.)

Yes, I don't know whether to laugh or cry, that such a caricature of justice could happen.

I can just imagine an RIAA lawyer now: "I'm sorry Ma'am. It's unfortunate that you will die as a result, but DRM is more important than life -- it is [gasp] power."
