life is never boring
Oct. 19th, 2006 08:26 pmSome years ago a car ran into the back of mine when I was stationary at the traffic lights. It damaged my neck and not long afterwards I started to get extreme pain in my right arm and then to lose strength and feeling in it. When I saw a neurosurgeon he rushed me into hospital and operated on my neck. The nerve was being constricted where it exited from between the vertebrae and I would end up with a paralysed arm the way I was going. If the nerve died then it was extremely unlikely I'd ever regain use of it. So he drilled out the hole in my neck and I regained full use of my arm.
Recently I have once again been having similar pain in that same arm, though affecting different parts of it this time. When it gets particularly bad I even have numbness in my fingers. I'm not very happy about this. I really don't want that surgery again. When the nerosurgeon was telling me what to expect before the original operation he said that it would hurt more than I could imagine. He was right. But it did fix the problem.
Life sure isn't boring.
