Jan. 5th, 2003 09:26 amI have taken an impromptu trip to Sydney.
A friend visited us in Melbourne from Sydney to pick up a lot of her things and take them back with her. She hired a car and was going to drive alone back to Sydney. She is still fairly new to driving and that journey is not a lot of fun for even a seasoned driver. I couldn't bear the thought of her having an accident on the long return drive so I told her I would help... and now here I am, in her living room in Sydney after driving most of the night.
I'll take a bus or train back south, hopefully this afternoon or this evening.
It is kinda nice to be here in Sydney again though. I grew up a little north of here and it feels... familiar. The funniest thing is I remember the bird-songs and the feel of the air more strongly than anything. Not what I would have expected. Now I am here I sorta would like to do a bit of looking around... but I probably don't have enough time. Certainly I don't have enough money. It would be lovely to go to the Natural History Museum again though... I haven't been there in soooo long. When I was a very young kid I would travel down to Sydney often just to spend the day at the museum. [sigh] Happy days.
