I don't know what to think. I'm sooo tired. I generally see myself as one of those people lost in a world of their own, who nothing touches. It is like I'm surrounded by this invisible armour. But I'm surprised to find something is wrong with the armour.

My wonderful dog Mali is in the Vet's tonight to have an operation on her eye. She is about 12 or 13 years old, so anaesthetic is dangerous. She has an ulcer on her eye and might end up losing it. The vet will try sewing the 3rd lid shut to give it a chance to heal, with lots of antibiotics too I expect. But the eye is part of another problem, and we are not sure what it is. There is a chance an infection has damaged her facial nerve on that side or a tumour. Either way the eye operation is probably just the first step.

That's why I'm tired. I have an odd reaction to stress: I fall asleep. (Like during the Ash Wednesday fires that killed all those people... I fell asleep.) I wouldn't have expected to be this bothered. It is very strange. I feel like I'm standing outside myself, calmly watching myself. I know something is upset but it almost doesn't feel like it is me.

Weird.

Oh, and the title of this post? Henry the dog is blind. Mali the dog seems to be blind in one eye now. And I've lost some of the sight in one of my eyes. So we have 2.5 eyes between the 3 of us.

Any more loss and we'll be the blind leading the blind.

thanks :)

She is back with me today and will have a bucket on her head for a week to stop her scratching the stitches out of the eye.

We'll see how she fares.
