Oh boy. :( I scrapped almost everything I wrote yesterday and this morning. Bleagh. I hope this reads okay. I've gotten to the point where I can't really see it anymore... and I really need to go to sleep. My apologies if it is crap.

Incidentally, do you know why they are called "cliffhangers"? It dates back to the old silent Perils of Pauline serials that used to be shown in picture theatres. Each episode would end with the heroine, Pauline, in... well... peril. Quite often she would be dangling from the edge of a cliff, so those endings came to be known as cliffhangers.

The original 20 chapter serial was made in 1914. Another 12 episode series was made in 1934. A documentary in 1947, and a comedy in 1967.
