Gosh! That was an interesting read. Thanks for the pointer.
I guess I shouldn't be surprised that China would scuttle the Copenhagen deal. They did what most countries with the power to control deals do; what the USA (and Australia) did to Kyoto. But the rest of the world, including USA, UK, Australia, could have easily done what was done at Kyoto -- they could easily have made an agreement without China. But of course it was easier to pretend they tried, even though their "targets" would have done nothing to prevent climate change anyway.
So, it is back to business as usual. We know what we have always known. I guess we just need to get past the delusion that politicians will do anything to help; they will serve their masters, not us. We, the people, are the only ones who can actually tackle climate change. This is as it should be. We, in the final analysis, are the ones causing it.
You have good reason to hope. The only people who want to tackle climate change are those actually able to fix it. Us.
I think some politicians want to help. Thing is they gotta work together to make things happen and they're not all of the same mind. But you're right, it is us that can make a difference. No politician can carry that responsibility for us. We have the ability to respond. :)
