These movie company execs really amaze me. Why bother making an advertisement for your film then making it hard for people to see it?

I found out about an upcoming film called [no, I'm not even gonna say the name] which looks like it will be very cool. I checked out the site online and they have trailers, but only streaming -- you can't download them.

I have many friends who, I am sure would like to see the trailer, who would almost certainly become interested enough to go and see the film, but they don't have an internet connection. Unfortunately I am not likely to show them the trailer because I have a download limit. If I could download the trailer then I would show it to about a dozen people I can think of right off the top of my head, but there is no way I am going to stream that file 12 or more times just because some anal-retentive executive desires total control.

This is so dumb. The brilliant artists get shortchanged by management... again.

----

I will say the name. The artists shouldn't be punished for the actions of stupid management. Fire the management, I say. The film is called Underworld http://EnterTheUnderworld.com and looks like a very dark, modern gothic, Romeo and Juliet story where Juliet is a vampire and Romeo is a lycanthrope (werewolf). Vampires and lycanthropes are sworn enemies. The gorgeous Kate Beckinsale is the vampire and some of the special effects look mouth-watering.

It used to work for me this way when it was streaming - the file is d/l'd into your browser's temp directory. Should be easy to find - just order by size or file type. You can then copy or rename the file to another directory, and bingo, it's yours.

Granted, the last time I tried this, it was a few years ago. There might be cookie info or some other esoteric registration stuff, but it's worth a go, if you can be bothered. If you do it successfully, it is an opportunity to go 'Yeah! Fuck you, system!' for a few glorious seconds.

Hmmm... I had a look around in my computer and couldn't find a file. These days I think the streamed file just gets read into a buffer on-the-fly and played out of that, discarding what has been played.

Bummer.

But thanks :|
