Does anybody know of a story (film, book, short story) that is entirely uplifting? That is, one that has no bad people, no trials and tribulations, no obstacles the main character has to overcome -- just a story that is unrelentingly happy.

Many of my favorite films come close, such as "Whispers of the Heart", "Amelie", "Clueless", "Jersey Girl", "The Lake House", "The World's Fastest Indian", "Damsels in Distress", "What's Up Doc", but all have significant downers in the story.

Does anybody know of a story that is up all the way through?

Heh. The first film that sprung to mind was "Up!".
I'm probably not in the headspace to answer this (I think "Up!" works, if you can get though the SADNESS at the start), or maybe "Despicable Me" and its ilk (maybe the first two Toy Stories?).

But I doubt you'll get an answer. You need adversity to drive the drama.
If you don't have that, where's the narrative engine?

Spirited Away, My Neighbour Totoro, Kiki's Delivery Service and Howl's Moving Castle, etc, come close, but they probably fall into the "Amelie" zone.

The same with the core Muppets films (especially 'The Muppets', which is the most perfume-soaked love letter to a series in cinematic history).

My brain is niggling at me, suggesting there are some short two-page stories.... wait....
I can't find it now (I thought it was in "I Sing The Body Electric", but maybe not) there is a Bradbury story, about a town (in Illinois, I assume) that gets left behind after a highway bypass goes in.
And people are just fine with that.
Life goes on.

"Yes, We'll Gather At The River" in the aforementioned book.
It's only 10 pages, and a smidge maudlin so might fall short of your "happy" benchmark, but without taking the time to re-read it, I think it might meet your requirements.
