It is back on. Weirdly, starting from the first episode again [oops, my mistake, it was the 3rd episode]. I'm sure it was on channel 9 last time and only ran for about 3 episodes [ummm... 2 episodes]. This time it is on channel 7. It is on at 11:40pm tonight. It is a good laugh... a very enjoyable comedy. Pity it never received the run it deserved.

Seems to be the way with TV these days. If a series costs more than a pittance and attracts less than a massive audience then it is doomed, unless it it is independantly funded. I can't help feeling that the big organisations are in slow suicide mode, and that they are only kept going by inertia. I don't know how correct that feeling is, but that is how it seems to me.

This is the essential problem with capitalism: tv channels, just like any other 'big business'™ aren't courting suicide; they're courting mediocrity. Inertia drives them, true; but it drives them towards ever lower budget, ever trashier material.
As long as the audience doesn't get too uppity, they'll keep pumping drivel. If they can prove that Buffy viewers are a smaller demographic than Home And Away viewers, guess who gets the prime-time spot? Star Trek fans will still watch at 2pm in the morning, even if you run the episodes are in the wrong order? Hell, cram some more sports in, then. (Overpowered by trite rhythm) when profit woos, viewers lose.
