eep! cheep!
Jun. 16th, 2004 12:47 amI went to an auction today to get my parents a better computer. Their poor tired old computer has been dying, with one thing after another going wrong.
The auction was a real eye-opener. I bought them a 933MHz computer with 17" monitor, 128Mb RAM, 20Gb hard drive, AGP video card, network card for.... wait for it... $225. (Those of you in USA recall that our Oz dollars are about half the value of US$ -- maybe a bit more than half.)
At that price I couldn't resist buying myself one too. I could retire one of my slower machines now. :)

Date: 2004-06-15 08:27 pm (UTC)Looks like I'm coming down again mid-next-month.
I might chase up the auctions down there and see if I can get good machines for a couple of friends in Melb.
If you hear about computer auctions down there let me know. Likewise if I find some I'll let you know.
If I can't find any down there I may be heading off to those auctions again sometime in the next couple of months and I'd be happy to get a machine for you. :)
