Project Gutenberg needs readers

Project Gutenberg, the amazing, project which makes available more than 15 thousand free ebooks was started back in 1971, by Michael Hart when he became worried about a deepening division between the information-rich and the information-poor. He decided to use computers for the greatest good he could think of: lessening that social divide. Since then thousands of people have been inspired by him and his project and have joined the effort. Project Gutenberg currently adds about 82 more books to its collection each week!

But most of those books are in text. What about the blind and hard of sight? Project Gutenberg is building a team to read their eBooks into MP3 files for the visually impaired and other audio book users.

Let them know if you'd like to join this group.

I love Project Gutenberg. I went to the site but I couldn't find a place to volunteer. Do you know if it's through them, or through Literal Systems?

Good point. I looked and I'm not entirely sure, but as far as I can tell you probably need to email Literal Systems. They seem to be coordinating the volunteers.
