Here is a very short piece I wrote today. It is a bit of an experiment. It actually happened, though not quite the way I've depicted here. :)
I was about twice Rebecca's age.

Any feedback is very welcome.

Love it! I'm not smart enough to get the Europan angelfish example, but the glove example knocked me over and I got the point: it's just light.

Does that make me as smart as Rebecca's mom?

Btw, are y'all looking forward to the opening of the _Firefly_ movie?

Thanks Bob. :)
Oh, you are way smarter than Rebecca's Mum. And she is pretty damn smart.
The angelfish is thin but tall and fairly long, almost a pointy disk. It would be a good lifeform to live in the watery cracks of ice on the moon, Europa. The idea is simply that they can't turn around sideways like we do. They have to turn vertically. It is just a way to show how it could be natural for some lifeform to turn to look back at the observer that way. Imagine if to look back at the person looking into the mirror, instead of walking around on the floor (rotating 180 degrees in the Y axis), you walked up the wall behind you and across the low ceiling (rotating 180 degrees in the X axis). You'd see the people thinking that the mirror's image was vertically reversed from the real person. See?

I can't take credit for the glove analogy. I heard the brilliant holographic artist Paula Dawson talking about reversal and she mentioned the glove idea.

Boy oh boy am I looking forward to Serenity (I have a feeling that's what Joss is calling the movie). I've heard also that he might be producing it as a series again, but instead of going via the stupid TV executives they would be going direct to DVD. I sure hope so.
