The item below has been solved more than half a year ago. I've struck out the text but left it so that others can be forewarned of the email chain. I removed the photo because there is no sense in further invading this kid's privacy.

The lesson here is to avoid email letter chains. Even if they are not hoaxes and are well-meaning there is no way to terminate their action when their goal has been achieved. Posting to websites and blogs is far more effective. (I'm relieved I didn't continue the email chain.)

I got an email this morning about a young girl from the tsunami disaster. She is in Phuket Hospital, in Thailand. She doesn't remember her name or anything. She has lost her parents. Does anybody know her?

I had checked some of the hoax sites, but didn't look at Snopes.

I think, rather than cancel the post I'll add an edit to hopefully prevent further spread.
