I kept shaking my head in amazement at many of the things that they manage to do: the near accident where the moped swerves from the car, losing one of its carrier bags... the shot where the camera moves down over the pond to see the stone Amelie throws skip across the water in the foreground... cats doing exactly what is required of them... etc...
Some of the special effects just blow my mind: Amelie turning to water when the guy leaves the shop -- oh my goodness! The simple over-exposure when the guy realises it is the repairman -- it made me laugh aloud in pure delight. The statue blinking. The photographs telling the guy about Amelie. The paintings on the wall talking about her.
