I have a rotten feeling that the explosion of the shuttle 'Columbia' and terrible loss of all astronauts on board may slow the moves toward manned exploration of space, and also overshadow some wonderful news, including this -- a small, clean, commercial hydrogen fuel cell that generates a kilowatt of electricity in the home, producing only water as its waste. It sells for about US$6,000. In time we should see the price come down as more units are made, eventually becoming cost-competitive with petrol-powered generators.
