Walk Against Warming
Nov. 3rd, 2006 04:10 pmHere in Australia our ultra-conservative Prime Minister has been caught out by strength of popular feeling about climate warming (or as a friend of mine prefers to call it "climate roulette"). Tomorrow, Saturday 4th November there will be mass displays demanding that our government take a responsible stand on climate change.
Go here to find out where people are meeting up.
91 per cent of Australians, including 90 per cent of Coalition voters, want Australia to shift away from reliance on coal-fired power to renewable energy sources, and 86 per cent believe the Federal Government should be doing more to tackle climate change. 92 per cent of Australians do not believe the Federal Government is doing enough to encourage clean technologies, while the overwhelming majority of Australians, including 71% of Coalition voters, want Australia to ratify the Kyoto Protocol.
Interesting how out of touch Howard is. His populism is a fake front. Now we see it melt away.
