Get us out of this bloody mess

GetUp needs you on the petition to force our damn prime minister to reverse his invasion based on lies and greed. We need to get out of Iraq. It has killed more Iraquis than Saddam Hussein ever did, is destabilising the middle East still further, and has become a cause for jihadis to gravitate to. The whole thing is doomed and is a bloody mess. We marched in our millions protesting when he wanted a part in the grand adventure of bloody massacre, but he ignored us. He can't ignore us now.

We helped create Iraq, somehow we need to be part of the solution.
I can't see how pulling out will lead to less deaths, especially considering our forces are so small.

I never thought I would say this, but I'm no longer sure pulling out will help.
If the Sunni vs Shite fueding keeps on, they'll need an international intervention.

Yes, we should be part of the solution, but through aid and diplomacy, not by lending oil corporations legitimacy in continuing to thieve Iraq's assets.

We in the West have screwed things badly, letting lying, greedy morons pull us headlong into such insanity.

Yes, things will get worse for a bit if we pull out, but that's because we went in there in the first place. We are going to suffer the fallout from this for decades to come, and the longer we stay the worse it will be. We should have left ages ago when the backlash would have been less severe. By staying we have worsened it. By staying longer we worsen it still further.

There is no dignified exit. We threw that away ages ago.

If there is an international intervention later then we and the USA and UK should pay for it. We should pay reparations to that country for all the assets we stole and destroyed and all the people we caused directly and indirectly to die. We owe them, big-time. We are crooks whining about being burned by the fire we lit while we continue to fan the flames. We should stop with the matches already and then pay for all we destroyed. Maybe then we will not be so quick to jump in with guns to try stealing from others in the future.

Bush and Co should be tried along with Howard, Blair and the rest.

The world is too small for us to run around as schoolyard bullies stealing others' lollies because we can. We need to be stopped. We have committed a despicable crime. We need to pay enough so we aren't tempted to do it again... not in guns and bombs and violence, but truly helping with money and honest expertise.
