Dammit! I've done what I always do. :(

I have the basic idea behind the story, the main character mapped out, the ending, and now the beginning. I have a little of the middle, but it is scary that I haven't any real way to connect the dots. Damn! Why do I always do it this way?

I hope I can make this work. If I pull it off this could be a half good story. I guess I'm banking on the characters doing most of the writing, like they have done from time to time in the past.

Now I get to spend the day sweating over the broad story. [gulp] Unfortunately today's the day I volunteer at the charity shop. Hmmm... I wonder if they'd mind if I begged off... I'm actually under no obligation to go, and they recently got an additional helper for Wednesdays.

I've had that problem before. That's when I dropped the outlining and started writing the story, even though I wasn't precisely how I'd connect the dots - sometimes just starting helped things connect things in my mind. But I'm sure you've tried that before!

Volunteering in a charity shop! That sounds wonderful. I think I'll have to do that some day.

Well if you've done what you always do I'm gonna guess that means you're about to do what you always do; write a lovely story. I'm looking forward to it. :)

I'm hoping that's how it works for me. :) We'll soon know. :)

I love working a day each week at that shop. The people are fantastic. I's lucky I did go today. There was a long stretch where I was the only one there, as one of the ladies didn't come in and the other two had emergencies at home that called them away for large parts of the day.

Well, thank you. :)

Unfortunately my success rate is just 2 finished stories out of 5 NaNoWriMos... and those two I completed were pretty extensively mapped out beforehand. Still, I have to say this feels like a good idea, and I'm hoping I can work it up into a good story, even if it doesn't go the full 100 pages.

Just getting it written will be enough reward for me... which is kinda lucky, because at the moment it feels like it may only fill out about 25 pages. But I'll take whatever I can get. It's all part of the learning curve. :)

:) Yah, you're right. Something written is better than no thing. I'm glad you're writing.

I notice that comment says you edited it. How did you do that?
I thought it was impossible to edit them. I always resort to copying, reposting a new version, and deleting the other. It would be so much easier to just edit it.

Hmm, now that you ask I'm not seeing the right thing to poke. Let me test it and I'll let you know as soon as I figure it out.

Okay now on the comment I just made just below the " (Reply) (Parent) (Thread) (Link) " bit it's showing this little button with a picture of a pencil on it right next to the delete button that has a little red x on it. I'm wondering if it just shows it for a little bit of time. Anyway that's the edit button with the pencil on it.

Aha! I think I figured it out. Once a reply is written to a comment then one can't edit it but before that it should be doable. That's my guess anyway as to how it works.

Okay now testing my theory to see if this comment I'm replying to loses it's little pencil.

Interesting... I can't see one on yours (that's to be expected -- it's yours not mine).
I'll see what happens to this one...

Nope. Well, that's weird.
Maybe it is because I'm not a paying customer at the moment. (I only pay for my LJ account when I have the spare money, and it's been pretty tight lately.)

Yep, that's it.
