naughty little dog + clumsy idiot = ouch
May. 29th, 2011 06:21 pmDamn! This little dog is so bloody naughty. I can call her and if she is far enough away or she thinks I can't see her she simply turns and walks away. Out here that behavior is not conducive to a great life-expectancy for a small dog. It is far too dangerous to not heed her human. Cattle roam through here, snakes abound, and there are cars flying along the road at the bottom of the hill.
Anyway, today I was outside walking her. She had taken off a few times recently, to my great annoyance, so I'd been keeping her on a leash, which is very inconvenient for her and me, especially since she tends not to poop while she is on the leash, so I've been waking up to moist little presents from her on the kitchen floor. So today I figured that she might have learned not to stray so far because each time she does I growl at her and she is restricted to a leash for a day or two. I'm walking along leisurely following her and she rounds a corner of shrubbery ahead and I speed up to try and keep her in sight, even though she is only about 20 feet away. I turn the corner and she is nowhere to be seen. It has only been a few seconds, but she is gone. I shout myself hoarse, striding all over the property. She must have heard me -- hell, I'm sure the people on the other side of the valley heard me -- but she ignored me.
Severely pissed at her I do the only thing I can. I go back inside to resume what I was doing and hope she is alright.
After about half an hour I hear yips from her so I hurry outside and there she is "playing" at chasing the cows. Luckily they are young ones who run from her. If she tried that with an older one it would likely kick her and I would have an injured or dead dog. I run out and yell at her to stop, but being a clumsy idiot I'm not looking where I'm stepping and my foot twists sideways on a rock, sending me sprawling on almost the only bit of sharp gravelled drive here. My ankle is screaming at me and my knee and palms, which took the impact of my fall are beginning to sear with gravel-rash pain. My hands hurt, but are fine, but my knee is scraped of flesh and bleeding and one of my few warm pants has a big hole where the knee used to be. Now, hours later my ankle continues to swell.
Damn! And Ouch!
Bloody dog. I am so not happy with her, and I think she realises it. She is being very meek.
Hell! I was going to be travelling in to town this coming week to do some shopping, but I don't think I will be now.
