Hey, y'know how most legends have some truth at their origin? Well, I have always had this horrible feeling about the legend of Medusa.

Imagine that there is a brilliant woman who creates sculptures. She lives with her sisters (or girlfriends) on an island in the Mediterranean, where she works creating wonderful statues. She is possibly from the African continent and braids her hair with brightly colored string in the manner of some people there.

One day a young adventurer named Perseus, big on muscle, but short on brains, comes to the island, having heard of the legends of the woman-monsters with snakes for hair that dwell there. He believes the silly stories that they can turn people to stone with a look, in fact he sees plenty of "evidence" of it in the many sculptures there.

Medusa is rather amused to see this dumb, young, musclebound clod walking backwards up from the shore toward her looking in the reflection of his shone-up shield... until he decapitates her with a sudden swing of his sword.

The stupid superstitious shit kills a talented sculptress and goes down in history as some kind of hero.

I went in and explored around. Love your drawings. Also loved your stories. They were clearly understandable even to someone who knows nothing about VR.
I especially enjoyed: Simone's World, Starry Dream, and Soaps

But I have to admit the VR stuff just simply amazes me. That you all can do that stuff is simply awesome. (and that's based only on the limited info I have)

I see your niece picked up your talent too. For 12, she is really good. Especially the foal and the girl.

Let me know when you finish the Medusa short story, I'd love to read it. BTW - Will you guys take me back into time with you? I can cook! LOL

[blush] Thanks. I don't really think I am a very good writer.

VR is simpler than it first seems. Some of the more technical aspects are still a bit hard at the moment, but it is getting easier all the time. Stuff at the cutting edge is always hard at first, then as it gets more mainstream easier ways are found to do it. For example the telephone system is an incredibly complex thing, but anybody can use it now. We no longer need to know anything about the complicated stuff under the surface. When Bell was working on the first telephones it was hard to understand and to use, and that was nowhere near as complex as the phones are now.

Yeah Lois is a sweetie. Image
She is soooo lucky. Not only is she a talented artist and writer, but she is brilliant at maths too! I so wish I was. I love many of the concepts in maths, but lack the basic ability.

Lois' brother is very smart too. My sisters kids are just amazing!
Heheheh I sound like a doting aunt don't I?

I'll try to write the Medusa story today.

You can cook? Cool! I am hopeless in that area. You are officially invited for any time-travel forays. Heheheheh.

"I don't really think I am a very good writer." Sorry, but I disagree. I found your stories very easy to read - especially dealing with something so outside the normal. I guess we will just have to agree to disagree. LOL

I'm pretty proud of my niece and nephew too. (Just met them for the first time in September...it's a long story I'll tell you some time.)

As for their dad, (big time cop in the LA area..note-NOT an LA cop! He hates them) we have just started to get to know each other too. We've grown close in the past year.

Saw that you enjoyed "Lilo & Stitch," well he was the "Police Consultant" for the picture. (no credit) The two guys who produced it are friends of his. They are working on another animated film and one of the characters may actually be based on him.

Sorry..I have no connections there; just him. I was invited to the opening in Florida, but since I had just changed jobs, I couldn't go. Big bummer! Really big bummer!!!

But when I visited him (our 2nd ever meeting), we had lunch at the Disney Studios. And we even managed to get in to the famous "Club 33" at Disneyland. But actually the highlight of my trip (besides spending time with my big bro) was the 1 1/2 police tour in a helicopter!
