Bringing my pictures along with me seems to be a good idea. Cam, the owner of BlueVelvet and that lovely woman with him (wish I'd caught her name) had been wanting to see the pics since I brought them in a while back, it seems. But I have to be careful. This can be quite ego-stroking. If my pictures were as good as people say I would be rich by now. The proof is in the pudding, so-to-speak.
I enjoy the atmosphere there. I feel very content sitting in the corner with paper and pencil, sketching the things around me, occasionally chatting with people. It is immensely pleasing -- relaxing and energising somehow. The first night I did that I did quick outlines of people and hands and the way people stood or sat. Last night my sketches were a little more about light and dark and how the people were inside it. I seem to be using it to brush up on my drawing skills just now, and have a feeling that in the future I shall be drawing original works there. A few times last night I had the germ of an idea, but didn't bother to pursue it. We will see what happens.
My laptop always comes with me. Next time I think I will ask if there is a power socket I can use (the laptop only runs for a couple of hours at reduced speed on batteries). I'll draw using the graphics tablet. There is the possibility of making much more interesting stuff that way. It is worth experimenting with anyway.
