fun, fun, fun
Sep. 14th, 2002 09:23 pmOh happy, happy time. I had the most fantastic day yesterday. I learned heaps in the process of researching something. I dearly love learning. Gamasutra is a fantastic resource. I spent a while reading about algorithms for building infinite universes -- I already know of some neat tricks to create infinite worlds. Then I brushed up on using the A-star algorithm for path-finding.
I did lots, lots more too... read up on using nurbs, did a fair bit of programming, felt very accomplished, and had a great time, all the while listening to Chicane, t.A.T.u, and some other great music. I was alone in the house and I especially love that... dancing around, giggling with delight.
At the end of the day (4am) I bedded down to read a couple of Willow & Tara comix that had been delivered recently.
Today I woke at 8am, expecting to get back to a normal day, but the fun continued.
I was thinking about the front doorbell -- it is mechanical and irretrievably broken. It is a bit of a hassle because I am pretty deaf and can't hear people at the door. It occurred to me that I can press one of my many spare antique computers into service as a doorbell. I can load it with any sound file and have it watch an input line and use that to trigger the sound when someone presses the doorbell switch. Sounds geeky I know, but to me this is the absolute height of fun.
What a great life I have! I am soooo lucky.
