...against my better judgment.
A nano-ing I will go. :)

I tried to do that once ago and failed. I occasionally write episodes to a longer story idea that I have going in my lj at my own pace and poetry elsewhere; writing for me tends to work better when I am suitably inspired.

But good luck anyway!

Oooh! You have a story going in your LJ? (Just looked for a while and couldn't find it.)
Do you collect it all in one place? I love to read... let's rephrase that: I'm addicted to reading.

I completed Nano last year, but my novel sucked pretty badly, though just in parts, I think. Other bits I'm still happy with. I tend to write short stories. Dunno why. My NaNo piece last year reads like a bunch of short stories. [sigh]

Not sure if I'll complete it this year. Things ain't lookin' good. Last year I was all gung-ho, lemme at this thing wahoo! This year I'm err, ahhh, I dunno, maybe, we'll see... (Talk about settin' myself up to fail!)

If you ever want to read mine from last year let me know (it's online but at a (not very) secret address). I have a number of shorter pieces (some are tiny) on my site http://miriam-english.org along with pictures, cartoons, virtual worlds, etc.

See the book tag on my LJ. I probably don't have time right now to read it, but I'll pester you for it later ;)

Ooooh. Nice story! Having lived in Sydney for quite a while I could really feel it. I impatiently await your next installment.
Mine's a tale of female love too. :)
Any time is cool.

The next part is going to be rather "hot" ;) But I haven't quite mastered how to write it yet without feeling embarrassed.

Heheheh :)
I know what you mean. When I was writing the steamy parts of mine, my Mum and my niece were reading it. Eeeek! How embarrassing is that?!

I'd planned a big sexy scene near the end and kinda chickened out, implying most of it... though there were more juicy bits earlier... even in the first chapter. :)

I had no idea there was such an institution as NaNoWriMo. It looks cool.

Wow! Hiya! Tanai :)

Oh yes. You should do NaNoWriMo.
Did you see in the FAQ how it has grown?
1999: 21 participants and 6 winners
2000: 140 participants and 29 winners
2001: 5,000 particpants and more than 700 winners
2002: 13,500 participants and around 2,100 winners
2003: 25,500 participants and about 3,500 winners
2004: 42,000 participants and just shy of 6,000 winners
2005: 59,000 participants and 9,769 winners.
2005: hmmm... no numbers up there yet...
I was one of those who made it past the finishing post last year. :)

At just 50,000 words you'd do it easy.
(Cruel Summer is more than three and a half times that size!)
The trick is that it has to be done in just a month.
