The latest part of my Selena City story about Adele, a lesbian in a near future where sexuality is not an issue.

part 9 Chances (1653 words)

A bit shorter than I'd like, but starting to get a little more back on track. I don't want to fall into the trap of posting each second day. Though 4am doesn't really count as part of the previous day. :) Hopefully I can get the next part out later today.

Let me know what you think of it.

Awwwr. =). You have a very passionate speaker, there, which is cute.

But my favorite would definitely have to be Adele in regards to the way she is with Brenda. The Adele-Brenda scenes are just so cute. That last paragraph about blushing had me smiling.

:) I get worried about having passionate speakers in stories. They tend to easily bore readers. I thought, afterwards that I should have broken up Priyanka's pieces a bit more, but at the time I was tired and just racing ahead and trying to get the story done. I guess I'll have to pace that better in the edit. :)

I would like to add more cute story parts between Brenda and Adele. I keep feeling I need more. I don't have much more scheduled for them in the outline (no that isn't a plot hint). My notes concentrate more on the main story arc unfolding. I think I'll have to make up more Brenda Adele cuteness as I go along. :) Thanks for the feedback. I appreciate it.

Mmm. I did have to push myself to read a little bit, but I thought it was realistic. It wasn't as though Priyanka didn't have great things to say.

Oh, definitely add more! Outlines are wonderful, but if you're feeling that you need more of them, always add. After all, this is your creation. If you feel it needs something, add it, even if it's not in your outline. The outline is your own creation too--it can certainly be fidgeted with. But cute scenes are pretty easy to stick into random outline-oriented places. =).

I don't even haaaaave an outline, pout! But I have ideas in my head. This time, that's all I need. I had an outline for all my other stories. Sometimes it's fun to just let my imagination soar.

No problem! Keep on writing! :D.

I think that normally I wouldn't need to rely so much on an outline, but this medication I'm on for this infection is ruining my ability to think. Plus I'm a little obsessive. :)

Thanks for your comments. You are absolutely correct.

This morning during breakfast I watched an old episode of Buffy (I still love that show even after all these years) and I found the dialogue sooo inspiring. I must work more on that and cuteness.

Heheheh :) You don't need an outline. You have that amazing brain.

Egads, yes, medication does funky shtuffies to the brain. =(. I think I was on some medication when I did NaNo last year. I'm not really surprised that I didn't finish, being medicated up and in the throes of junior year of high school--so much work! I even had an outline then. But I think it was so much work doing the outline that I exhausted myself completely.

Oh, I love Buffy! I watch it when I'm with my friend's ex-girlfriend, 'cause she's a Buffy nut. Xena too. Yay for more cuteness!

Oh, willywash on that! +Blushes.+ Amazing brain. Nooooot quite. =). But thanks. =P.

(I often keep an outline for long-term novels that I write throughout the year... They're strange.)

Yes! I love the nutty humor in Xena. (Any connection between 'Kiwi' and the New Zealand locations where Xena was filmed?)

Oh, and Daria -- another great show.

Wonderfalls is great too. Pity the TV executives killed it before it completed even the first season.

'fraid no connection between Kiwi and the New Zealand locations where Xena was filmed. =P.

Nicole (birth name) --> Nickie (wanted to spell it in a way no one else did) --> NiKi (because someone DID spell it Nickie, so I changed it) -- Ki ('cause it was capitalized) --> Wee Ki ('cause soccer pals are mean and I'm short =P) --> Kiwi (switched syllables, 'cause I'm also mean and kicked them all--also goes with my hiccup, somehow, which is really high pitched and strange).

That's my name in a nut shell. =P. I hate having the name "Nicole." Bad memories, I guess. If I had to go by any nicknames for it now I'd go by Nics (what I am in Bio II) or Elocin (Nicole backwards).

Never heard of Daria...or Wonderfalls. Pout. I've never been much of a TV person naturally, but I find I quite like it when I get myself into it.

heheheh You twisted person you. :)

I'm lucky. I like my name. It is perfect for signing my artwork: 'me'
:)
Some friends and family call me Mim. That always makes me think of the naughty witch in "The Sword in the Stone" Madam Mim. :)

Oh Daria is superb! I love the humor in it. Same with Wonderfalls. A lot of people have been trying to get a proper compilation of Daria to be released, but it hasn't happened yet. If you want to see the show let me know and I'll pop it on some disks and snail-mail them to you. I love the writing in Daria.

Twisted? Oh, never! =P.

I love the name I was GOING to be named, after the ambassador of Japan, my mother's ex-boyfriend's mother--amazing woman, and it wasn't as if Mum was still in love with her ex or anything. He died of a horrible disease, after all--and she had already left him for Da anyway. But yeah. I was going to be named Akile. (A-ki-la, pretty much.)

I haven't seen "The Sword in the Stone" in forever, if I ever saw that version.

Oh, oh, definitely send it to me! I would be totally interested! I love getting snail mail, too--as long as it wouldn't be too expensive of anything. Would you want me to email you my address?

You probably saw that Sword in the Stone -- the Disney animated one. It stuck very close to the T.H. White book -- a very sweet book.

email me the address you want me to send the disks to and they should only take several days. I'm in Australia.

I'll pop a few other goodies in that you might like too. :)
It's a gift. I insist.

good job :)

Who's Rani, btw? Have you introduced her and I've just missed it or is this some juicy nexus from the past that will resurface?

From: [identity profile] miriam-e.livejournal.com
Eeek! Thanks for noting the Rani thing.

She was originally to be in one of the earlier chapters that I rewote a number of times and finally gave up on. I just couldn't make the bridge between Adele thinking about Brenda and Adele thinking about Rani. The thing about Rani having the hots for Brenda came from a friend who suggested it as a way to bridge between the two, but I still couldn't get it to work. I'll have to explain more about Rani in a later chapter. She isn't terribly important to the plot, but she does have a few thing to say that I want the story to put out there.

I'm grateful to you for noticing and mentioning it. Thanks Annie.

heheheh :) thank you.

I have a few tricky bits coming up in my notes that I'm not sure how to write, then it might be plain sailing plot-wise for a little bit.

:) Thanks.
Updating you on your LJ is probably the best way for me. I don't use any intant messenger programs anymore because I know a lot of people online and in the past when I used IM programs I found I got nothing else done. So I don't install them anymore. :)

Hey sorry I was out of town. I'm loving it! And I love the indian names - Priyanka and Rani! Lol. It's really good, can't wait to see how it turns out.

I think India is going to become an extremely important part of the future, and that will mean facing the centuries old deep class divisions in that society. There are some truly wonderful things about Indian culture -- the amazing history of mathematics and astronomy, the love of language, the cool decorations (like no other culture), but their great danger is the unbelieveable waste of their greatest resource: human minds. All this is part of the reason behind this story. :)

Hope you had a fun time out of town. :)

I just posted on your story over in Lesbian, but I think I'm going to be watching for the updates here! Livelier group. *smile* I agree with what you said above about India. They are going through so many changes, the Caste system is going to have to be rendered useless if they are to continue into the following years. There is an economic commission called BRIC (Brazil, Russia, India & China) that is becoming a greater power. India has the chance to become something even more phenomenal than it already is, but the old way of thinking will have to go.

Thank you for sharing your writings. :)

From: [identity profile] miriam-e.livejournal.com
I hadn't heard about BRIC. I am so glad they are more or less bypassing the English speaking nations. I think we in the West, in our arrogance, have fumbled the ball terribly. The only western nations doing great stuff are the northern European nations. If we in Australia could learn from their example we might have a future. Back in the '60s it looked like we were going down that road but we threw it away for the "greed is good" insanity. [sigh] Now we are paying for it in stress, poverty, expensive and underperforming education, and general unhappiness.

Lets hope future generations learn from the examples they have before them.
