The latest part of my Selena City story about Adele, a lesbian in a near future where sexuality is not an issue.

part 14 Proof (1362 words)

Cool. A second chapter in the same day. That makes a more healthy word count.

Let me know what you think of this.

:) I'm grateful to you.

I finally looked at your LJ (procrastinating instead of writing) and read the stuff on your profile. Oh my god, those are truly wonderful words. Thank you for putting such inspirational thoughts online.

heheheh :) Thanks.

I tried to get another one out today, but midnight is only half an hour away and I'm nowhere near the end of the chapter, so looks like it will have to be finished tomorrow. Who would have thought that writing could be so damn hard? I wish I could write like gothxxangel or crankycrocus do. I'm so envious of them.

Whoever said that writing is easy, all you have to do is sit down with a pen and a sheet of paper and stare at it till drops of blood appear on your forehead was not far wrong I think. :)

Only three or four more chapters to go, depending on how much I dither and waste time. Lots to happen yet. I should either get back to writing or go to bed. :) Gah! I'm hopeless. :)

:) aw, well it's just turned midnight here :P

gothxxangel and crankycrocus? are they other pennames of people taking part in this years nano?

haha- "and stare at it till drops of blood appear on your forehead" not a pleasent picture actually :S :P

oo, only that many? aw, i shall miss it when it's gone... but i saw a load of other storis on your website- so i'll be sure to look them up :D i already read the one about being able to alter time- taken from a dream you had- and at the end the character found someone else with a "power"... i really loved that story- i wish i had dreams like that!

anyways, good luck with the last few eventful chapters :D but dont push yourself so hard you dont sleep!! that wouldnt do at all!

take care! xox

Yep, [livejournal.com profile] gothxxangel is also on LJ, and often comments here. She is a real sweetie and is in Japan. I love her stories.

[livejournal.com profile] cranky__crocus has made a special LJ account for her NaNo novel -- [livejournal.com profile] horned_fate. She's amazing. I can hardly believe how much talent is in someone her age. I'm very slack about visiting people's pages (mostly because I'm too good at procrastinating, and visiting people's pages is far too easy a way to lose vast stretches of time). Anyway for a long time all I read of hers were her comments here and in another community. Normally I think I'm very good at estimating people's age from their writing, but I was shocked when I found I'd got her age completely wrong -- she seemed decades beyond her physical age.

Thanks. :) You probably do have dreams like that. Our mind is designed to forget dreams because they interfere with normal waking life, but you can train yourself to remember them. There is a very short window of opportunity as you emerge from the dream, before it gets deleted, where you can write it down if you hurry. I always used to keep paper and pencil by my bed. Nowadays I keep a handheld computer. As soon as I wake I try to jot down what I was dreaming. Often the ones you wake from in the middle of the night are best, but they're also the hardest to force yourself to record. Sometimes you can hang at the edge of the dream, not awake and not fully immersed in the dream where you can transfer much of the dream to longer term memory before you wake up. It isn't easy, but practice helps. I find I get some really cool ideas from dreams. Mostly they're just fragments, but occasionally, rarely, they're surprisingly long, complex sequences of experiences.

Thanks for the nice wishes. :)

Write the bad ones down too. It's all grist to the mill. :)

I don't know if gothxxangel keeps hers online anymore, but if you ask I'm sure she'll share.

Great job again! I echo soul_searcher_4's comment about there only being a few chapters left. This has been a great story and it will be very sad to see it go. :( The only part of this chapter that I had a slight head tilt with was the portion where Henna was talking to Marcus after he came to Adele's apartment and it seemed like she was talking down to him, like a child. I don't know why that struck me as odd.

I am almost done with teaching for the summer down here so I will be going to check out your other stories on your page. And it's because of you that I am going to try NaNo next year. It gives me some time to polish up on some vocabulary. Believe it or not, my vocab has diminished since I started teaching ESL students. They aren't at the level where I could use my previous vernacular and it's like I've lost some of it somehow. But reading your story and seeing all the work that you have put into it has inspired me to give it a shot. We'll see what I can come up with. So thank you for spurring some creativity into me. ;)

So, here's to the next few chapters, may they go easy on you and flow quickly. *grin* Best of luck, can't wait to read more!

Yeah, I felt a little awkward getting Henna to talk that way too. I do want to give them a bit of a dependant relationship, but I don't think I carried it off. Probably needs more in their exploits earlier to make that work. I'll have to improve that in the edit I think. Thanks for noting that.

Oooh! I'll be eager to read whatever you write... NaNo or not.

Heheheh :) They sure aren't flowing easily. :/ But I'll have a large chapter posted before I hit the bed tonight.
