Date: 2008-09-02 10:01 pm (UTC)Oh! Also, I finally got through the CD you sent except for Grave of Fireflies (I think that's close to the title). I haven't yet had an appropriate not-already-sad time to watch that. Trying to stay on top of my mental health hah.
Thank you! They were great! I loved all of the ones I watched. Whispers of the Heart is most recent. I cried. It made me think of my writing a lot. I saw some of myself in the protagonist. Wish I could be as courageous as she!

Date: 2008-09-03 03:04 am (UTC)Courageous? You are. You're striking out into the unknown to another country to seek your future. I think that's fantastic.
You are wise to steer clear of Fireflies until you are feeling strong and calm. It is an incredibly beautiful story, but the depth of tragedy can be almost overwhelming. You have been warned. :)
My wonderful niece Lois has told me that there is a new Studio Ghibli film out: "Ponyo on the Cliff by the Sea".

Unfortunately the official Studio Ghibli site in North America seems to have been replaced and redirects to a slow, crappy, bloated Disney site

Oh, I do love Studio Ghibli! Will have to check those out.
Thanks again!
