Holy cow! I just saw Kick-Ass. Omigod! What a movie! I was shaking by the end, adrenalin and endorphins streaming through my veins.

Nothing, absolutely nothing about this movie is normal. When you see the movie, and you must!, don't go with any expectations at all. Don't expect it to be good, though it is; don't expect it to be violent, though it is; don't expect it to be funny, though it is; don't expect it to be a parody, though it is; don't expect it to be dramatic, though it is. Just walk in and be open to your preconceptions being turned upside down and your nerves rattled.

Wow!

I enjoyed it quite a bit.
Needed more violence though.

I am glad you enjoyed the movie! :D I did, however a lot of my comic book geek friends either loved it or hated it.

I tried explaining to both that it wasn't just another comic book super hero movie, and they looked at me blankly. I was surprised that they couldn't see that it wasn't.

Yeah, I watched it expecting just another parody.
[spoiler alert -- view by dragging the mouse across the next words] This was, of course, only the first of many shocks to come in this movie. One of the things I liked most about it was the way it constantly defied expectations. I'm so glad I didn't read the comicbook first. I will be getting it soon though. :)

If you haven't seen it, don't go by anything I or anybody else says about it.

The big downside is now there's another damn movie I need to buy. I can't afford it! There are too many geniuses in the world! Eeeek!

:)

Good thing you said holy cow

I hear public swearing is a bad idea in QLD.

Hey, are you still doing OK?

Shit yeah. :) I'm totally enjoying life.
Oh fuck, I'm in for it now. I swore. :)

Nah. Swearing is par for the course in QLD as anywhere in Australia, and I expect in USA. You don't swear in "polite company" of course, but elsewhere it doesn't even raise eyebrows.

How're you, Bob?

I have watched some very cool TED talks recently. This one will blow you away:
Pranav Mistry - The thrilling potential of SixthSense technology

Another talk on the same topic will add more to it:
Pattie Maes and Pranav Mistry demo SixthSense

I'm doing brilliantly. Allergy season here, but that's life in north Alabama. Some people say next time they're going to get a pollen colored car.

The article I read is that they're thinking of fining people in Queensland for public swearing, public urination, and other stuff, and they expect to make thousands from it.

Mistry's work looks amazing. Way back in the mists of time Chris Crawford came to Tulsa Computer Society, and I asked him if they were thinking about new I/O devices at Atari. I was disappointed that he'd said no, and I've seen all the demos of head trackers and eye trackers the Air Force and NASA were working on, and they were never quite right. Even touchscreens weren't quite ready for prime time. Between Sixth Sense and the Wii and the iPad, they've turned my question upside down and reached in behind it and now I realize how limited that question was. An age of miracles and wonders indeed.

Fortunately what we find when we walk through the technology is ideas and other people.

I ran into Linda Branagan and Cindy Reed on facebook. Cindy works as an IT geek at a public school in Orange County and plays upright bass in a rockabilly band.

It's really good to talk to you, dear friend.
